I’ve run away to the sun to enjoy piña coladas on the beach.
I used to focus on being beach-ready when I was younger, but now I just want to enjoy the sand and the water.
Are you a wear-a-bathing-suit-on-the-beach person? So many women are not.
When my children were little, I was vacationing in South Beach when I saw a Giselle look-a-like in the pool. She easily could have stepped out of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, but I comforted myself with the fact that I was in the pool with two children under the age of two and so, obviously, could not be expected to look like this woman, who had clearly never had kids. Then her nanny handed her twin babies who could not have been more than three months old.
I decided right then that I’d just have to get over the whole swimsuit-comparison thing and enjoy myself. Anything else was a losing battle.
Still, a girl can primp a little.
I plan to be makeup free in the day since I will be head to toe in SPF 1000. But in the evening, I like to look a little polished, with a simple three step routine.
- Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20. When I’m not in the direct sun, I wear a tinted moisturizer with an spf that also works to diminish sunspots. Winning!
- Color Pinch Cream Blush. I tend to use a cream blush most days, but it’s my Must Have in the heat. It has a glowy look and it doubles as a lip stain. Hibiscus is my favourite colour.
- Volume & Shape Volumizing Mist. I never use a hair dryer when vacationing in the sun. I just put on some spray and go (this product doubles as a volumizer when you are back at home.)
