I hope life is treating you well and you are safe and surrounded by good people.
Easter is low-key for us this year since we are on day 12,000 of the kitchen renovation. We had our Easter lunch at The Mandarin, as one does. Thankfully, they had some plain grilled chicken and steamed rice I could eat. I’ve been devouring Kelly’s Bake Shop’s amazing vegan, gluten-free cupcakes. It’s nice to be able to have a nice treat and still avoid the foods that trigger endometriosis. It’s been very hard to be without a kitchen with all of the dietary restrictions and I cannot wait to have our kitchen back for the summer.
I’ve been distracting myself with lots of reading and TV watching. I’ve watched Lohan’s Beach House (fabulous bad TV) and Married at First Sight. I know, not proud moments.
I’ve just started reading Trust Exercise by Susan Choi. This novel about theatre students in the 1990s has a lot of buzz around it and I’m really enjoying it so far.
Class Divide is a documentary on HBO about the gentrification of Chelsea in New York. It’s so well done and I think is a must see for everyone living in large cities where privilege is at play. It’s heartbreaking at times so be forewarned.
Oprah’s The Path Made Clear: Discovering Your Life’s Direction and Purpose is a great book if you are thinking about your next steps in life. It’s a collection of wise words from wise people and the audio book is particularly good.
I’ve been busy planning our trip to Paris this summer. It’s going to be a lot of walking, people watching, art gazing, and cafe frequenting. We were all very saddened by the fire at Notre Dame and just want to appreciate and soak in the history. I’ve been mapping out places to find foods we can eat since I am on an anti-inflammatory diet, my daughter has a fructose intolerance, and my son mainly subsists on milk and roasted seaweed. Wish us luck.
The Sephora sale is coming up this week and I only have a plan to restock a few items I’m lacking. I need more Coola SPF primer and Farmacy Honeymoon Potion. I might splash out on Seven Virtue’s Vanilla Woods Eau de Parfum. It smells so good and has no nasty chemicals in it. Are you planning to shop the sale?
I’ve been enjoying shifting into spring attire. I’ve been living in my Blank NYC moto jacket I bought last summer. I really don’t have plans to buy anything. Because Paris. I think I’m getting to the age where I just have what I need and replace it when it’s worn out. I might look for a pair of Repetto ballet flats since mine are on their last legs. Have you been buying anything new for the new season?
I hope you are enjoying the warmer weather. It’s rained all weekend here, but it’s lovely today and I plan to enjoy it.
